Zach Bryan has had a massive year, with his Quittin’ Time tour spanning most of 2024 and the release of his latest album, The Great American Bar Scene.
In addition to the big, exciting moments, 2024 also had challenges for Bryan.
Last month, the Something In The Orange singer and his girlfriend, Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, broke up, with Bryan writing that he’d been in a dark place of late. He’s also explained that he doesn’t want to be referred to as a “country musician” and shared an apology after upsetting Taylor Swift fans with a post on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this year.
In a new Instagram post, Bryan revealed that he isn’t done with surprising fans this year. Yesterday (7 November), he surprise-released the single This World’s A Giant, and in his latest Instagram post, he shared that another new song called High Road is coming today.
However, there’s a catch: he’s planning to quit touring, but for a good reason: Bryan has been accepted to pursue a Master’s degree in Paris next year.
“After not being home for a year and a half, I drove out to my mother’s gravestone in the dead of night a few days back on familiar Oklahoma roads, and I came to realize, just like in the past, that she never would call me again,” Bryan wrote alongside photos of himself and his family and touring mates in a candid post.
“Told her I quit touring because I got accepted to get my masters in Paris next year, I told her I was back in Oklahoma, told her about all my best friends in New York and all the nights we howled with the moon, told her about the immeasurable laughter my band and me have shared these last five years, all the calluses on my fingertips, every tear shed, told her about making it on The Rolling Stone and most importantly told her about porch swinging with my beautiful sister.”
He continued, “I wrote the chorus for this song a month or two back and finished it when I realized I was blessed with all these things. I figured it was about time I released it.
“Thank you guys for listening to ‘This Worlds a Giant’ last night, and thank you to all the people who love me, who have truly carried the weight with me.”
Seemingly quoting lyrics from a new song, Bryan added, “Seems that all these Quiet Dreams have gotten much too heavy, but I’m home now, and I’ll hold you through the pain.”
He ended his post by writing that High Road will be released today, and he appreciates all his fans. Check out the post below.
What Bryan’s plans to quit touring mean for his 2025 Stagecoach headlining slot is unknown.
