A brand-new country music festival, Citybound Country Music Festival, will be held in Narre Warren, Victoria, this summer.
Taking place on Sunday, 9 February 2025, at 2 Patrick Northeast Drive in Narre Warren, the event allows for country fans of all ages at a licensed venue.
The inaugural music festival is headlined by rising star Taylor Moss, who released her debut album, Firecracker, in September. She’ll be joined by fellow up-and-coming stars Tyla Rodrigues and Jay Santilli, as well as Jake Whittaker, Ruby Jane, Dakota East, DJ Buck Wild, Hazel & The Thief, and features Buckle Bunny Line Dancing.
Set to occur from 1 pm to 8 pm on the big day; you’ll be able to get enough sleep on a school night after this one. Tickets are on sale now via the Bunjil Place website, costing $35 for adults and $15 for children ages two to 16, and children under two can enter the festival for free. You can find more ticketing information here.
Taylor Moss has previously achieved chart-topping success with singles like Ain’t No Girly Girl and Get It Girl. She was also nominated for a Golden Guitar award for Best New Talent in 2023, among other accolades.
Currently independent and self-managed, Moss has done some heavy lifting to get Firecracker out to the world. Upon announcing the album's release in August, she said: “I’m really excited and nervous about my debut album being released. It’s been a big 12 months making sure all of this comes to light.”
Firecracker is a story in three parts: detailing beginnings, heartbreak, and finding love again. “Every song is or has been a part of my journey,” she said.
You can find Moss’s musings on the album here.
Tyla Rodrigues, meanwhile, recently released her debut EP, Upon Reflection, and celebrated its release at this year’s Groundwater Country Music Festival.
The candid EP goes from the bittersweet (If Walls Could Talk) to the dark side of love (Way Out West and Straight Outlaw), to finding hope (Wish I Would), and to end the journey feeling optimistic for the future (Heart, Don’t Fail Me Now, and I Believe In Roses).
Earlier this year, Countrytown interviewed Jay Santilli upon the release of her single, You’re Not Coming In.
She said of her motivation to pursue a career in music: “This is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I can’t not do it. It would be wrong of me not to pursue my dreams; I don’t want my girls to be like, ‘I didn’t know you were a singer’, and I didn’t want them to think I gave it up because of [them], you know? So, it’s something I want to do and instil in them that if you’ve got a dream, by all means, do whatever you can to achieve it.”
