If you’ve already listened to Luke Bryan’s new album, Mind Of A Country Boy (released on 27 September), you might have noticed something different about the album closer, Jesus ‘Bout My Kids.
The first song in the Luke Bryan catalogue to explore his Christian faith, Jesus ‘Bout My Kids was written by collaborators Tucker Beathard, Jeff Hyde, Brad Rempel and Ben Stennis, with Bryan appreciating the sentiment explored in the track.
Exploring the song further, Bryan was interviewed by the Taste Of Country Nights team, where he discussed his family’s Christian beliefs and core values.
Bryan told the publication that Jesus ‘Bout My Kids is the “first time” he’s actually mentioned Jesus in his music, but he’s confident that the song will resonate with his fans.
“This song is totally real to our family environment, and I’m sure a lot of other people out there,” Bryan said after stating that he’s “proud” of the track.
He continued, “This is a song that I could go to any church of this world of ours, any Christian church, and sing this song, and it can be interpreted very Christian-like.
“I think it’s a beautifully written song that every parent can really relate to… Especially raising your kids in a Christian household, which is what my wife and I strive to do.”
Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have two teenage sons, Bo and Tate, and raised their nephew, Til, who is now a university student.
“Our boys, we’re really proud of their relationship with Jesus,” Bryan said. “We’ve worked together to really make that a thing in our home. Certainly, when we’re sitting down at dinner and saying our prayers.”
