New Zealand singer-songwriter Kaylee Bell has shared some incredible news: she’s expecting her first child in February 2025.
Bell, who is six months pregnant and opening for Kane Brown in New Zealand and Australia, has opened up about her journey to becoming a mother in a new interview with the NZ Herald.
Revealing that she didn’t believe she’d be able to have a child due to diagnoses of peritonitis - a life-threatening infection and inflammation of the peritoneum, chronic fatigue, and battling to receive an official diagnosis of endometriosis, she’s been involved in the health system for the better part of two decades trying to find answers about her reproductive health.
The Boots ‘N All singer and her husband, Nick Campbell of Midnight Youth fame, found out that she was pregnant in June.
On discovering that she was pregnant, Bell told the publication of her initial feelings: “The very first feeling was complete shock.
“I’d kind of just got to a point where I’d ruled out that part of my life, and so it’s been quite overwhelming.”
Discussing the “very emotional journey” of embracing her pregnancy, Bell also outlined the challenges of becoming a mother, such as maintaining her fitness as a performer while entering her third trimester.
“Definitely finding it harder to breathe and get through a full-hour show,” she admitted.
Looking to erase the stigma around being a mother in music, Bell also shared that she has huge touring plans for 2025, including her appearance at Queensland’s CMC Rocks Festival.
“There are stigmas that I would love to see change, and if I can do anything to help change them, I will be trying to,” Bell said. “Just because we’re having a baby, it’s like, yes, things will be tough; I’m a realist.
“I know it’s going to be really hard, but I think the hard stuff is always worth it, and the joy is that I get to have a family and have a career at the end of the day. So if I can show someone else that that’s possible, then I think that’s really encouraging.”
Bell officially shared her pregnancy news on Instagram yesterday (22 November) by sharing a glowing photo of herself and Campbell on the ARIA Awards red carpet this week. She wrote in the caption: “Been cooking more than music this year...our own little cowboy coming Feb ‘25. We can’t wait to meet him.”
Countrytown congratulates Kaylee Bell on the wonderful news, and we hope that the rest of her pregnancy is smooth and safe.
