John Williamson Plots ‘My Travellin’ Days Are Done’ Tour, Announces New Album

January 17, 2025 3:12 pm in by

John Williamson may be turning 80 in November, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to slow down. Instead, today, the Australian country music icon announced a new batch of 55 Years – My Travellin’ Days Are Done tour dates and shared the details behind his 21st album, How Many Days.

Williamson will kick off his 55-year anniversary tour at the Tamworth Country Music Festival next Friday (24 January). From there, he’s set to tour across Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales throughout 2025 and 2026—with more dates to come.

In addition to announcing the tour and album, Williamson released the new song, If You Wanna Be An Aussie, today.

He said of the inspiration behind the single: “I think we all feel a little worried that we are losing our fair dinkum attitude towards each other here. We are one of the most free nations in the world and very accepting to newcomers. I wake up every day and feel so lucky to be an Aussie. So why not a song to celebrate and dance to that positive approach?”

Of the album and his plans, Williamson continued, “It’s hard to believe it’s 55 years since I released Old Man Emu. So, it seems fitting to make a fuss about it after COVID messed up my 50th year celebrations and touring. So, here I go again, one more time around Australia.

“I’m excited to be releasing How Many Songs and a new kids picture book this year. That means I’ll have some new songs to add to the show, plus the old favourites I can’t leave out. It’s hard to stop when I keep people smiling.”
