The American country music community has been very vocal in the past 48 hours, sharing their reactions to the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13).
Social media was overwhelmed with prayers, messages of support, and condemnations of the shooter, with posts from musicians like Randy Houser, Carly Pearce, Jason Aldean, Tyler Hubbard, and many more. You can find their posts below.
Dave Matthews Band spoke of the incident while on stage in Bristow, Virginia, saying, “My condolences to the family of the people that were hurt, but good grief, man. That’s no way to run a democracy; that’s no way to be in a democracy. They’re shooting people. That’s ridiculous.”
Cody Johnson also spoke on the day’s events during his set at Chicago’s Windy City Smokeout, saying, “The fact that any American citizen would think that what they did today would solve a problem in this country is absolutely disgusting. [Do] you want to solve a problem in this country? On Election Day, go in there and vote for who you want.”
Saying that he was “tired of the division”, Johnson led the crowd in a rendition of God Bless America.
Travis Tritt and John Rich were both quite vocal on the shooting, too, alleging that Trump’s political opponents were behind the assassination attempt.
