Ben Lunt - Amelia
Tender and mid-tempo, the new single from Perth-based indie-folk singer-songwriter Ben Lunt is a stunning one.
Recalling the vibes of Passenger and City And Colour, Amelia is a song bursting with passion and a unique country-meets-folk atmosphere. For the single, Lunt teamed up with Sydney-based producer Tim McArtney (Hockey Dad, Angus & Julia Stone) for an unforgettable track to kick off the year with a bang. With Amelia, the Australian troubadour has laid hints of what’s to come: a career of connecting with audiences a la Vance Joy or Matt Corby.
Elsie Lange - Heatwave
Heatwave is the kind of moving acoustic-based song we all love. With her resonant vocal and gorgeous storytelling, Alice Springs/Mparntwe-born artist Elsie Lange has begun the album campaign for her upcoming full-length, The Normal Discontents Of Living, with an undeniable single.
Lange is recognised for her introspective songwriting, and on Heatwave, she conjures the vulnerability and redemption that she follows on her upcoming album. She invites you to listen, and explore your own messy yet wonderful contradictions.
Benny Elder - Dear Dad
Keeping with the country-meets-folk vibes of the above songs, Benny Elder showcases why he’s a storyteller by heart—despite his mechanical engineer day job.
The 30-year-old Hobart-born, Brisbane-based musician has taken a leap of faith in following his music dreams. On his exuberant-sounding, heartbreaking single, Dear Dad, he draws diverse influences from pop-punk heroes blink-182 and country icon Chris Stapleton.
A heartbreaker, Dear Dad is based on acoustic guitar and a kick drum and follows Elder’s journey of longing and despair as he ruminates on people no longer in our lives. It’s an introspective song that explores generational parenting patterns, examines the complexity of relationships, and looks deeper than what people present on the surface.
