Andrew Farriss, the Australian singer-songwriter and musician who you may know from his country solo work and for his years in INXS, will make his Grand Ole Opry debut this December.

The Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville space dedicated to preserving deep-rooted tradition, has hosted country music legends like Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Keith Urban, and many more. Farriss will perform not just as someone who’s embraced country music but as a global rock icon. For his performance, rock and roll and country will fall into place together.

He said about the achievement, “Performing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville is an American dream come true. It really is the home of the country music greats, and I’m also proud to join the ranks of the amazing artists who have performed at this important and historic venue.”

Set to take the stage on Saturday, 14 December, Farriss will showcase his storytelling abilities by performing his new single, Something Stronger and his devoted passion for country and Americana music.

His 2021 self-titled debut album is all about showing his love and appreciation for American roots and country music, blending Americana, country, and rhythmic rock music.

Something Stronger, from his upcoming album The Prospector, due for release in 2025, was co-written with multi-award-winning songwriter Lawrie Minson. Together, the pair presented Farriss’s effortless ability to evolve while staying true to his musical roots.

Farriss previously said of Something Stronger’s energy, “I wanted to record a song about grit and passion.”

The effort paid off in spades—Something Stronger soars with belting electric guitars, thrashing drums, and the former INXS icon’s soulful and commanding vocals coalescing into a beautifully dirty, energised barnstormer.

Before The Prospector and his self-titled album were released, though, Farriss developed a deep connection with songwriters, many of whom are based in Nashville.

Andrew Farriss is the co-founder and creative backbone behind Australian rock legends INXS. The band found major success, not just in their home country but in the US, where they achieved seven Top 10 singles and three Grammy nominations. At home, they’re in the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Over the last 32 years, Farriss and his family have owned and operated a cattle and grains farm in northwest New South Wales, Australia. His music has developed inspiration from the rural lifestyle, the rugged nature of the land, and the authentic storytelling spirit of country music.

The news of Farriss performing at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time will come after his massive Something Stronger Australian tour, where he’ll be joined by star-studded support acts, including Bryce Sainty, Claudia Tripp, Tori Forsyth, Davidson Brothers, Dana Hassall, and Kyle Manning. The tour begins next Thursday (24 October) and ends on Friday, 10 November.
